The recent data center boom and acceleration of generative AI utilization raises critical questions for the future of the cleantech ecosystem. According to RMI, the power demand of data centers in the U.S. is expected to double by 2030. On one hand, data drives the development and management of clean energy technologies such as smart EV charging systems and software solutions that optimize industrial energy use. On the other hand, the potential increase in energy demands associated with AI and data centers could create additional strains on the power grid.
